Local units concerned over government approach’s to tackle monsoon disasters

The government seems prepared for the monsoon disasters but local units claim that wont be enough to overcome the disaster. Experts claim the expected rainfall will be more than normal rainfall this year.

Last June, landslide in Durlung of Kushma Municipality, Parbat killed 9 people and displaced nine families. People have not fully recovered from last year tragedy and they have to deal with this years monsoon as well. “It has been raining lately and people are concerned about the likes of flods and landslides”, said the mayor of Kushma municipality, Ram Chandra Joshi.

As per meteorologists, the rainfall in most part of the country will be above normal.

This year, the authority predicts that Sunsari,Sarlahi, Rautahat, Siraha and Kanchanpur districts will be the top five most flood-hit districts, with the affected population in each of these districts crossing 100,000. Likewise, Dolakha, Sindhupalchok, Dhading, Bajura and Doti districts are likely to be hit by severe landslides.
